When I sat down to write More Torment of Sally the Sow I didn’t set out to write anything as ambitious as it turned out to be. I was actually on a whole other track when I realized that Sally’s journey required that I write this part of her life. Well, one thing led to another and all of the Palm Springs chapter of The Life (the elite sex society for the wealthy) had to be included. With that came a revelation on how influential this “secret society” really is. The next thing I knew I was introducing so many people that I worried things might get confusing.
However, my preliminary readers (a small group of close friends) said it was fine, and so here you go. This next installment in the Sally series actually tells you about all sorts of characters that are part of the novels my working on. (Coming soon!) I’ve know all of these people for almost a year, but many of them were only alive in the character bio sheets I created for them. Bringing them to life here was vital to the overall universe I’m presenting as well as this story by itself. It was fun playing God and breathing life into them.
The first Sally story (The Torment of Sally the Sow) took place in January of 2017, for those who are following the timelines of the characters. So this story takes place one week later. But, the whole universe I’ve created is really centered on two sets of people, whose stories date back to before Sally was even born. One set is Masters Daniel and Mark. I’ve been working on the novels that were supposed to introduce them (starting in 1989) as they first come into their own. Every time I “meet” another person integral to their sensual journeys I end up writing a bio, and then a story, just to get to know them. That’s how Abby’s story (taking place in 1970) and Dr. Kim and Robert’s stories (1990’s) came together.
So, writing about Sally’s torment was really a part of the process of bringing more of the overall universe I’m constructing out, while developing my personal relationship with each of the characters.
